Students will present a business plan and create a scale model of a roller coaster using restrictions associated with different lots of land. Apply concepts of potential energy, kinetic energy, centripetal force, inertia, and surface area.
Students will present a business plan and create a scale model of a roller coaster using restrictions associated with different lots of land. During the building process, engineering concepts will be applied to ensure rider safety. Cost analysis will be performed to determine the total cost and upkeep over time. Using the engineering design process, students research concepts related to roller coaster structures, brainstorm designs, build, and test the scale model of a roller coaster made from cardstock. Throughout the module, students will apply concepts of potential energy, kinetic energy, centripetal force, inertia, and surface area. This kit contains enough materials for 10 groups. Access to curricula materials can be found at http://www.nicerc.org.
Materials in this kit include: assorted colors of cardstock, marbles, poster board, level, foam board, and masking tape.
WARNING: Choking Hazard. Small Parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
Students will create specific eukaryotic cells using various everyday objects. Apply concepts of cellular biology, eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells, and organelles.
